Legislation covering Garda Vetting:
Garda Vetting is subject to two pieces of Legislation:
The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012-2016
This provides a statutory basis for vetting people carrying out relevant work with children or vulnerable persons.
The Data Protection Act 2018/GDPR
IABP complies with this law by retaining records in strict confidence, overseen by a liaison person, herself vetted and authorised by the Garda Vetting authority, who is currently the IABP Membership Secretary.
