Garda Vetting:
IABP has a responsibility to provide access to a secure and professional service and is committed to the safety and welfare of those attending IABP body psychotherapists.
IABP is a relevant organisation under national legislation (see below). Body psychotherapists applying for membership of IABP as accredited, pre-accredited, or students (if working with clients) are subject to Garda vetting.
IABP wishes to make the process as clear and simple as possible, and assist in any way we can.
Legislation covering Garda Vetting:
Garda Vetting is subject to two pieces of Legislation:
The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012-2016
This provides a statutory basis for vetting people carrying out relevant work with children or vulnerable persons.
The Data Protection Act 2018/GDPR
IABP complies with this law by retaining records in strict confidence, overseen by a liaison person, who is vetted and authorised by the Garda Vetting authority, and is currently the IABP Membership Secretary.
